Juraj Poliak, Matej Sloboda (a Kamil Mihalov): Ceci est peut-être une pipe

(soundscape)

Stored in Žilina, this object is part art, part musical instrument. It has no keyboard or complete pipes and only sounds thanks to hoses connected to a compressor. In 2017, Juraj Poliak designed and built it as part of the set design for the Slovak National Theater's production of Túžba po nepriateľovi (Longing for an Enemy). This peculiar little thing is then exhibited at the Považská Art Gallery, but no one can play it because of the pandemic. Matej Sloboda happens to find out about it and, since it catches his eye (and ear...), he uses it in his performance for the Into the Miracles 2023 festival, creating a specific composition with an unusual sound. And in 2025, Matej Sloboda and Juraj Poliak will tell Kamil all about it... Then they will play together in András Cséfalvay's exhibition and finally, at Starry Nights!

Swine Records (SK) + Fayuca Retumba (MEX) - Premiere

Listening Session: “Turoň/Ahuitzotl” EP

The new brand of the web magazine and collective Swine Daily – Swine Records is releasing a new split EP with the Mexican label Fayuca Retumba, backed by producer Yourte Bugarach. After an interview with the Mexican producer for the Slovak web magazine, a spontaneous idea for a music project gradually emerged from the conversation. Slovak artists had a clear task, with their only inspiration being a mythological creature called “Turoň” from Slovak, Czech, and Polish legends. Mexican artists tried to set the monster “Ahuitzotl” from Aztec mythology to music.

Come and listen to the premiere of the compilation in the attic of Stanica Záriečie.
