Širom is not a new concept on the European scene. The Slovenian band, which makes folk music in its own way, has been taking all the major festivals in Europe by storm (Le Guess Who?, Ment) and, alongside numerous awards, owns the label of The Quietus magazine's best album of 2022. Drone surfaces and percussive improvisations evoke daydreams of an almost agelessness. The trio of Iztok Koren, Anna Kravanja and Samo Kutin create imaginative worlds that build on the formulas of traditional music only to then destruct them in their own way.
